Better vision, better life: Community health workers deliver lifechanging care in Ethiopia

Ethiopia's community health workforce provides essential healthcare services to people in rural and remote communities, closing the distance to care for patients far from the nearest clinic. A new training module developed by Last Mile Health in partnership with the Ethiopia Ministry of Health, expands the services they provide to include non-communicable diseases--and with the partnership of the Livelihood Project, community health workers are screening patients for vision problems and providing them with the eyeglasses they need. Watch the story of Marta Alemu, a small business owner who was at risk of losing her livelihood to declining vision--until she received care from community health worker Belaynesh Kassa.
