2025 was a remarkable year for the ocean and for everyone who stood up for it. The OceanCare team shares their personal highlights. 🌍💙 One of our proudest moments was arriving in Nice with more than 114,000 signatures from people calling for ocean protection and restoration. With the support of these strong voices we carried the Action Points from the „Because Our Planet is Blue“ Campaign to the highest political levels. Some of our other key achievements: 🤝 The BBNJ Agreement: A personal highlight for our team was seeing the international community reach enough ratifications for the „High Seas Treaty“ to enter into force in January 2026. A massive win for multilateralism! 🪸 Climate Action: At COP24 of the Barcelona Convention, we alerted Mediterranean states to the urgency of carbon budgets, resonating strongly with governments and stakeholders. 🚫 Offshore Ban: Together with over 200 organizations, we called for an immediate ban on offshore oil and gas exploration to protect marine ecosystems and our climate. ⛴️ Slowing down vessels in Spain: We supported the establishment of a scientific working group to discuss binding vessel speed limits in Marine Protected Areas.These successes prove that when science and public will align, we can secure a future for our ocean.
