Public dialogue on addressing violence against women in politics (VAWP) in Kenya | IWD 2026

As part of the lead-up to International Women’s Day 2026, Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD) has convened this public dialogue on Violence Against Women in Politics (VAWP) in Kenya. Hosted by the Department of Political Science & Public Administration at the University of Nairobi, in partnership with the Federation of Women Lawyers in Kenya (FIDA-K) and the Women Student Welfare Association (WOSWA), the forum presents WFD’s latest research findings and brings together policymakers, political parties, oversight institutions, civil society and students. The discussion explores legal and institutional responses to VAWP, the impact of gendered disinformation, and practical reforms needed ahead of Kenya’s 2027 General Elections to strengthen women’s political participation and inclusive democracy.
