When research becomes art: UNHEARD exhibition in the Maldives

In the Maldives, women in politics are not simply underrepresented. They are actively pushed out — through harassment, tokenism, and a quiet machinery of exclusion that operates beneath the surface of formal political structures. These are not isolated experiences. They are systemic. Created and curated by Engon, UNHEARD was born from listening. Through research, storytelling circles, and cross-party dialogue led by the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, women across the Maldives shared what it truly costs them to show up in political life. This exhibition is an attempt to make those experiences visible — to move them out of closed rooms and into shared space.
