NABAPALLAB project officially launches in Hakaluki Haor! | CARE Bangladesh | Funded by UK Govt.
The Humanitarian & Resilient Futures Program of CARE Bangladesh is implementing the adaptation outcome — Adaptation in Ecologically Critical Areas in Bangladesh (AECAB)/NABAPALLAB (নবপল্লব) — under the UK Government-funded flagship Bangladesh Climate and Environment Programme (BCEP), a key component of the Bangladesh–UK Accord on Climate Change.
The project aims to engage biodiversity and natural resource-dependent communities in strengthening climate resilience across two Ecologically Critical Areas (ECAs) — the Sundarbans and Hakaluki Haor. The initiative focuses on biodiversity conservation while promoting livelihood diversification and improvement through innovative Nature-based Solutions (NbS) and Locally Led Adaptation (LLA) approaches.
Following its successful interventions in the Sundarbans region, the NABAPALLAB project has now officially launched its activities in Hakaluki Haor ECA on 27th October, marking a significant step toward scaling up climate-resilient and community-driven adaptation efforts in one of Bangladesh’s most vital wetland ecosystems and a Ramsar site.
The CARE Bangladesh-led consortium brings together CNRS, Cordaid, C3ER-BRAC University, Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK), Friendship, Humanity & Inclusion (HI), iDE, and Practical Action to collaboratively deliver this transformative initiative.
