CLIMB project enabling Cox's Bazar residents to tackle climate change with Climate Smart Gardens
Welcome to the Climate Smart Garden at Upokuliyo High School, Jaliapalong Union, Ukhiya! Supported by the CLIMB project, this innovative garden is a hub for students practicing climate-smart agriculture. Here, students are learning and applying adaptive techniques to combat climate change, from water conservation to soil management. By promoting sustainable practices, these students are not only transforming their school but also sharing these climate-resilient ideas with their families and local communities. Watch how these young climate leaders are making a real difference in building a more sustainable future!
CARE Bangladesh is implementing Community Led Innovation for Climate Risk Mitigation in Bangladesh (CLIMB), a four-year program in the southeast coastal region of Bangladesh, funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark (DANIDA). The program aims to reduce the current and future dependence of host and Rohingya communities on timber and forest-based resources for livelihoods and cooking fuel by introducing climate-smart agriculture, green livelihoods, and renewable energy solutions. Through these humanitarian innovations, including nature-based solutions, the program seeks to strengthen climate resilience and reduce potential conflict risks in Ukhiya Upazila, Cox’s Bazar. The project will benefit a total of 3,860 individuals (51% women and 49% men) from both camp and host communities.
