Digital Kyzylorda: Empowering Rural Entrepreneurs in Kazakhstan through Digital Skills

As part of ‘Digital Kyzylorda’ programme, a regional digitalization training series for micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) implemented by UNDP Kazakhstan with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, entrepreneurs across the Kyzylorda region in Kazakhstan explored how digital tools can support their businesses in practice. In this interview, Saya, an accounting and taxation professional from rural Kyzylorda, shares her experience participating in the programme and how engaging with digital skills, ranging from business planning and analytics to chatbots and AI, helped her rethink the future direction of her business. The initiative was supported through knowledge-sharing by the UNDP Seoul Policy Centre and Small Enterprise and Market Service, drawing on Korea’s experience in MSME development and adapting it to local contexts in Kazakhstan.
