Development, Equality and Human Rights Are Inseparable, UN Expert Says

On 22 April 2026, Isabelle Durant, member of the United Nations Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development, introduced a thematic discussion on "Advancing non-discrimination, equality and development for all: 40 years of the right to development and 25 years of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action (DDPA)". The discussion took place during the 13th session of the Expert Mechanism on the Right to Development which was held at UN headquarters in New York from 21 to 23 April 2026. The Expert Mechanism provides the Human Rights Council with thematic expertise on the right to development in searching for, identifying and sharing best practices with Member States and promotes the implementation of the right to development worldwide.
