On 24 June 2026, Claudia Flores, Chair of the Working Group on discrimination against women and girls, addressed the Human Rights Council at its 62nd session in Geneva.
Ms. Flores warned that artificial intelligence can deepen gender inequality through algorithmic bias, online violence, deepfakes, mass surveillance and exclusion from technology design and leadership. The statement called for human rights-based AI governance, stronger accountability for technology companies, and the full participation of women and girls in shaping a gender-equal digital future.
