On 17 June 2026, the United Nations Independent Expert on human rights and international solidarity, Cecilia Bailliet, presented her most recent report on "peace and international solidarity" to the UN Human Rights Council during its 62nd session in Geneva. In her report, the Independent Expert highlights an urgent global need to prioritize peace through solidarity, peaceful dispute resolution and inclusion, rather than militarization and division. She calls for the creation of a global coalition for solidarity for peace to counter polarization, reclaim civic space, strengthen equality and reaffirm peaceful dispute resolution as the basis for twenty-first‑century multilateralism. #HRC62
