On 19 June 2026, Tlaleng Mofokeng, the UN Special Rapporteur on the right to health, presented her Human Rights Council report to the media in Geneva.
Dr. Mofokeng said that health is not only about services or survival, but about dignity. In her final briefing as Special Rapporteur, she called on States to address the structural conditions that shape health, protect health workers, confront discrimination and ensure that communities can claim their rights. She ended with a strong appeal for detained health workers to be released and for health systems to help people thrive, not merely survive.
