In Francophone Africa, HD has developed expertise in environmental mediation focused on managing local disputes related to access to or sharing of natural resources. The mediations facilitated by HD aim to reduce conflict arising from the degradation, overexploitation, or depletion of natural resources in a context of climate change and insecurity. In the commune of Kouoro, in southern Mali, HD supported a mediation process that led to the signing of commitments on 22 December 2023 to prevent conflicts and improve the management of the commune’s natural resources. This video tells the story of Naminata and her community’s commitment to the peaceful and sustainable use of the commune’s natural resources.
