Annual workshop: border resistance and utopian futures
How can research disrupt hostile border systems, and how can we be creative in finding ways to do that? Our annual workshop brought us together with 60 participants on and offline over two days in Clare College, Cambridge University. Seven engaging panels discussed topics including: digital futures for research on borders; tensions in navigating border abolition; the patriarchal and colonial mindsets of containment; ‘counter-sketching’ when authorities block other avenues for research, and borderless empires vs bordered reparations.
We were invigorated by the conversations, panels and company, and we hope everyone who attended took valuable learnings and connections away with them. Many thanks to all our panellists, chairs, and especially Dr Alpa Parmar, for hosting the wonderful event.
