The Marol Urban Forest is a water-sensitive urban forest initiative in Mumbai that is transforming a heat-stressed industrial area into a greener, biodiverse, and publicly accessible open space along the Mithi River. Working as a knowledge partner to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, WRI India has supported the pilot by integrating nature-based solutions to improve biodiversity, reduce urban heat, enhance groundwater recharge, and create accessible public spaces in Marol. Further expansion of the green corridor is planned along the Mithi River.
