Using Behavioural Nudges to Improve Public Transport Adoption
In this session, we explored how behavioural insights, data and technology could make public transport a more convenient, reliable and preferred choice for daily commuting.
The discussion drew on learnings from Bengaluru’s Electronics City, where WRI India’s STAMP initiative worked with corporates to encourage a shift from private vehicles to public transport. It highlighted how commuter-focused solutions addressed everyday barriers such as predictability, accessibility and first- and last-mile connectivity.
The session also featured real-world examples, including the Corporate Commute Nudge programme and Tummoc, a Mobility-as-a-Service app, to show how daily office commutes were made more seamless. It also explored how companies used digital tools to understand travel patterns, support sustainable commute choices and track emissions savings.
