Climate Risks and Innovations for Agricultural Value Chains in Africa | 27 June 2024

Agriculture is one of Africa's most important economic sectors, yet it remains highly exposed to climate-related risks, including droughts, floods and extreme weather events that threaten livelihoods, food security and financial stability. In this webinar, experts from across the African financial sector explore the growing cost of climate impacts on agricultural value chains and discuss practical innovations that can help build resilience. The conversation highlights opportunities for banks, insurers, investors and other stakeholders to support corporates, smallholder farmers and agricultural enterprises in managing risk and adapting to a changing climate. Topics include climate-smart insurance solutions, innovative financing approaches, risk-sharing mechanisms and strategies to accelerate climate resilience across agricultural markets in Africa. Watch the recording to learn how financial institutions can help safeguard agricultural value chains while supporting sustainable economic development and food security across the continent. The V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility (V20-SIF) is implemented by the United Nations Environment Programme's Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI) in collaboration with the Munich Climate Insurance Initiative (MCII), in response to priorities identified by the Vulnerable Twenty (V20) Group of Finance Ministers.
