Financial Resilience for MSMEs: A Climate Risk Strategy for Banks, Cooperatives and MFIs
In this Spanish-language webinar, the UNEP-managed V20 Sustainable Insurance Facility (V20-SIF) launches the *100 Banks Strategy*, an innovative approach designed to strengthen the financial resilience of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in climate-vulnerable economies.
The strategy addresses a persistent challenge facing MSMEs: limited access to insurance despite growing exposure to climate-related risks. By enabling banks, cooperatives and microfinance institutions (MFIs) to aggregate insurance demand across their lending portfolios, the approach creates new opportunities to extend insurance protection at scale while helping financial institutions better manage climate-related financial risks.
Hosted by Gabriel Perez, Latin America and Caribbean Coordinator for V20-SIF, the webinar brings together regional banking and sustainability leaders to discuss climate risk management, MSME finance, adaptation strategies and practical pathways to closing the insurance protection gap.
Speakers:
• Lina María Toro, Sustainable Finance Leader Colombia, Banco Davivienda
• Gina Carvajal Vega, Corporate General Manager, Banco Popular
• Oscar Fernando Hernández Diaz, Sustainability Manager, Bancamía
Watch the recording to learn how financial institutions can leverage insurance as part of a broader strategy to enhance MSME resilience and support sustainable economic development in climate-vulnerable nations.
