Joy’s Story | Help Children in the Philippines

Joy* was only 10 years old when she was forced by her aunt to stand in front of a camera and be sexually exploited. Her abuse was purchased online multiple times by customers around the world. Tragically, stories like Joy’s are common in the latest news about human trafficking in the Philippines. In 2022 alone, 1 in 100 children in the Philippines were abused to create child sexual exploitation material. In 2013, International Justice Mission, an NGO for children in the Philippines, helped local authorities arrest Joy’s aunt, rescuing Joy and others. Two years later, Joy courageously became the first survivor to testify against her aunt. Now, Joy stands as a symbol of resilience and courage, working as a licensed social worker and an active member of the Philippine Survivor Network, which pushes for justice reforms to protect children in the Philippines. Stand with Joy*. Stand for justice. Help children in the Philippines by protecting them from online sexual exploitation.
