Hands That Heal the Earth | A Sahel Restoration Journey
Across the Sahel, land is more than soil. It is the foundation of food security, livelihoods, and community resilience.
In northeastern Senegal, the Matam Land Restoration Boot Camp brings together participants from six Sahelian countries and ten universities for hands on training on how degraded land can be restored through practical, community-led approaches.
From participatory planning and landscape analysis to building Half Moons, stabilizing ravines, and developing agroforestry systems, future trainers gain hands-on experience they will replicate across the region.
Organised by the Sahel University Network for Resilience (REUNIR) with the support of the World Food Programme(WFP), the bootcamp strengthens local capacity, connects universities with communities, and helps build long-term resilience and improves food security for the Sahel.
