From Migration to Resilience - Moussa Hassan’s Story
For years, Moussa Hassan left his home in Niger in search of work in Kano, Nigeria. With few job opportunities available locally, he spent long periods away from his family and even missed the birth of his first child while working abroad.
Today, Moussa’s life has changed.
Through land restoration activities supported by the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), Moussa learned techniques to restore degraded land and improve food production in his community.
He now grows rice, which he sells at the local market. Moussa has also been able to buy cattle and generate additional income by selling milk. Most importantly, he can now stay at home with his family.
By restoring the land, Moussa has restored his livelihood, and his future.
