How Art Heals

How Art Heals

Rigorous research has sharpened our understanding of how art benefits both the body and the mind. Dance helps people with Parkinson’s disease regain control over their movements, music promotes childhood development and strengthens parent/child bonds, and collaborative mural projects support behavioral health. Building on a compelling body of science, the growing field of neuroarts shows how engaging with art in its many forms measurably changes the brain. Researchers, clinicians, artists, technology innovators, and policymakers are joined in a shared effort to translate new evidence into practices that harness art’s therapeutic potential. Aspen Ideas: Health takes place on the Aspen Institute’s wondrous 40-acre campus in the Rocky Mountains from June 22-25, 2026. The three-day event, which has opened the renowned Aspen Ideas Festival since 2014, is where health’s biggest challenges meet its biggest thinkers. #AspenIdeasHealth #AspenIdeas For more information about Aspen Ideas: Health, visit https://www.aspenideas.org/health.
