How’s Your Poop?
We may not discuss them in polite company, but our bowel habits influence our overall health and well-being in surprising ways. In "You’ve Been Pooping All Wrong: How to Make Your Bowel Movements a Joy," gastroenterologist Trish Pasricha offers a lively look at what it takes to produce satisfying poop. Three Ps are involved in allowing stool to exit the body properly: propulsion, pliability and the pelvic floor. Drawing on insights from neuroscience, enteric biology, and physiology, she explains what “normal” bowel patterns look like, what can go wrong, and how we can attain “poophoria.”
