Rebuilding Trust in Science

Rebuilding Trust in Science

The Edelman Trust Barometer has us worried. One-quarter of people worldwide believe vaccines are used for population control, 46% don’t trust media to report accurate health information, and half aren’t confident they can make informed health decisions. We clearly need to promote respect for expertise, acknowledge uncertainty, and burnish the reputation of scientists, healthcare professionals, and public health advocates as trusted messengers. Effective communication, transparency, workforce training, and stable funding are essential to reinforce the scientific infrastructure and equip the public to understand how research evolves. Aspen Ideas: Health takes place on the Aspen Institute’s wondrous 40-acre campus in the Rocky Mountains from June 22-25, 2026. The three-day event, which has opened the renowned Aspen Ideas Festival since 2014, is where health’s biggest challenges meet its biggest thinkers. #AspenIdeasHealth #AspenIdeas For more information about Aspen Ideas: Health, visit https://www.aspenideas.org/health.
