The Aspen Cross-Partisan Network on Education (CPN) brings together leaders from philanthropy, education policy, K-12 and higher education, nonprofits, and think tanks to identify shared priorities for improving US education. Student engagement has emerged as a unifying priority, and in response, the Aspen Education & Society Program is hosting a webinar series on Redefining Student Engagement, examining how student voice, authentic engagement, and civic learning can strengthen education systems and prepare all learners to thrive. The final session in the Redefining Student Engagement series explores a powerful insight: civic and career skills are not competing priorities—they are deeply interconnected. Featuring perspectives from the network’s working groups, the conversation examines how communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills support both workforce readiness and civic participation, while also highlighting the critical role families play in shaping student engagement. Participants will gain practical strategies to foster student agency and will take part in an interactive civic learning simulation led by students, offering an opportunity to experience engaged learning in action.
