Wellness to the Max
The US wellness industry now generates $2.1 trillion in revenue—more than 7% of the nation’s GDP. Spas, gyms, supplements, bodywork, crystals, biohacking, and IV drips all reflect the surge in wellness maxxing. While an increasing focus on personal health is great, the industry largely operates in underregulated spaces where scientists and snake oil peddlers sometimes lock horns. Nearly half of adults under 50 get at least some health information from online influencers, who are generally coaches or entrepreneurs, not healthcare professionals. The wellness economy has transformed self-care but separating science-backed recommendations from misleading claims can be tough.
Aspen Ideas: Health takes place on the Aspen Institute’s wondrous 40-acre campus in the Rocky Mountains from June 22-25, 2026.
The three-day event, which has opened the renowned Aspen Ideas Festival since 2014, is where health’s biggest challenges meet its biggest thinkers. #AspenIdeasHealth #AspenIdeas
