Rooted + Rising Welcome Video: Carmen Anarella

The Rooted + Rising series was developed by Weave: The Social Fabric Project, in partnership with the Center for Rising Generations, to center young people as experts of place — documenting what they see, experience, and imagine for the future of rural education in their communities. Through monthly vlog-style videos and written reflections, Youth Journalists (ages 18–24) explore: How trust and relationships shape opportunity in rural schools and communities; Where systems are working — and where they are falling short; How community connection drives belonging, leadership, and real change; What’s possible when young people are trusted as leaders. From classrooms to community spaces, these stories reflect the lived experience of rural education across the country — grounded in place, powered by youth voice, and focused on solutions. This series is part of a broader effort to shift the narrative about young people — from potential to power — and to elevate community-rooted leadership as a force shaping the future.
