Innovation and Technological Change for Industrial Transition and Regional Development
How do regions transform disruptive technology into long-term development engines? The seminar brought together participating regions from North America and the European Union for an interactive, peer-to-peer exchange. The seminar explored the strategies, policy frameworks, and institutional mechanisms that regions can use to enable successful innovation, economic diversification and industrial transition. The seminar also examined how emerging technologies in the digital economy, energy sector, health and education, social sectors and various domains can support regions in industrial transition. The central focus was a) the role of incubators, spin-offs, and partnerships with universities and research organisations; and b) the challenge of scaling up technological innovations beyond the pilot stage, ensuring that promising ideas can develop into commercially viable and widely adopted solutions.
