Why should we improve global data on unmet needs for health and social care among older persons? How can WHO contribute to strengthening coordination in this emerging field? Dr Gabriela Flores, a senior health economist at WHO Headquarters, attended the WHO Centre for Development’s meeting of WHO technical staff from headquarters, regional offices and academics from around the world to explore the emerging field of understanding unmet care needs of older persons held in Kobe, June 2024. In this video, she explains the gap in knowledge about those who have unmet needs for healthcare, and the importance of data to track progress towards achieving universal health coverage.
