Q3 Magnets Transport | #HiLumiLHC
Magnets on the move 🧲
A crucial piece of the #HiLumiLHC puzzle is the installation of new superconducting quadrupole magnets on either side of the ATLAS Experiment and CMS Experiment.
The red tube you see in this video contains two magnets made of a superconducting material called niobium–tin (Nb3Sn), which is being used in a particle accelerator for the very first time, in order to reach higher magnetic fields.
It was transported to the Inner Triplets (IT) string, the #HiLumiLHC test bench.
