Session 3 — Tips for Dashboard Users: Reviewed States Moving Towards Implementation of UPR Outcomes
Welcome to the third module of our tutorial series!
Once a review session concludes, the focus shifts to action. This session explores how a Reviewed State can utilize the UPR Recommendations Dashboard — a strategic tool developed by UNFPA in collaboration with the Danish Institute for Human Rights — to transition from receiving feedback to driving national progress.
Using Costa Rica as a case study, we demonstrate how to:
- Organize Outcomes: Group the 'main bulk' of received recommendations by theme to identify priority pillars for a National Human Rights Action Plan.
- Inform National Strategy: Build a rights-based evidence base for specific policies, such as adolescent health and teenage pregnancy prevention.
- Operationalize Texts: Access the precise content of recommendations to ensure national laws and programs align with international standards.
- Identify Strategic Partners: Map recommending States to find regional collaborators for sub-regional approaches or donor countries for potential development cooperation.
Whether you are coordinating a national monitoring mechanism or drafting a new policy roadmap, this tutorial is designed to help you turn UPR outcomes into a practical roadmap for implementation. 📊
