Nepal’s tea is gaining global recognition for its quality but its journey to international markets isn’t just about flavor, it’s about fairness and safety. The Central Tea Cooperative Federation, representing over 100 cooperatives, is leading the charge to strengthen the tea supply chain. With support from the ILO’s “Safety + Health for All” Flagship Programme, it has helped raise OSH awareness and establish worker–employer safety and health committees across Nepal’s tea farms. These efforts paid real dividends. By aligning with international labour standards, the cooperative is not just protecting its workers, it’s expanding for the first time into global markets.
