Girls in Information and Communication Technology: Data and Digital Webinar Recording
This webinar, organized by UNICEF to mark the International Day of Girls in ICT (24 April 2025), brings together young women and leaders from across sectors to discuss inclusion, safety, education, and digital transformation.
Panelists Mariana Rozo-Paz, Jemima Kasongo, John Omo, and Belen Andrade Perez, moderated by Hlekiwe Kachali, reflected on the urgent need for greater digital inclusion, particularly as 90% of adolescent girls and young women in low-income countries remain offline.
The conversation highlighted how digital literacy extends beyond coding to include the social-emotional skills girls need to navigate and shape their digital realities. Panelists also emphasized the collective role of governments, international organizations, tech companies, and communities in creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering digital environment for girls.
