Reinforcing Cybersecurity through International Standards: From Risk to Resilience
🌐 Geneva is once again set to become the meeting point for the global cybersecurity community.
Geneva Cyber Week 2026 (#GCW26), organized by the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research and the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs FDFA, will bring together policymakers, experts and practitioners to advance dialogue on cybersecurity and digital governance.
Cybersecurity is not a siloed technical concern, it is a strategic and systemic challenge affecting organizations across every sector, with real impacts on operations, supply chains and trust.
On Thursday, 7 May, ISO is hosting a session that explores how International Standards serve as a bridge between policy and practice — enabling governance, interoperability and resilience in an increasingly complex digital environment.
Because fragmented approaches create real vulnerabilities. And coordinated, standards-based implementation is how we close the gap.
Moderated by Hussain Hadi, Head of Publishing at ISO, the session brings together voices from diplomacy, standardization and industry to address what effective cybersecurity implementation looks like in practice — and what role standards such as ISO/IEC 27001 play in making it happen at scale.
Confirmed speakers include:
Edward Humphreys - ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27 convener, recognized as the "Father of ISO/IEC 27001"
Páll Magnússon - Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Iceland to the UN
Kirsty Paine - Field CTO & Strategic Advisor at Splunk
François Zamora - CSO for the European Division of Orange
Alexander Häußler - Industry Expert Cyber and Innovation at DEKRA
