Becoming World Design Capital 2030

Becoming World Design Capital 2030

Every two years, World Design Organization invites cities and regions worldwide to bid for the World Design Capital® designation. WDC is intended for cities that strategically leverage design to drive economic, social, cultural, and environmental progress. The bid process brings together government, industry, academia, and the local design community to shape a shared vision for sustainable urban development. Designated cities have used the WDC platform to strengthen creative industries, attract investment and tourism, and elevate their international profile. Hosted on 11 March 2026, this webinar shares strategic tips for building a competitive WDC 2030 bid, from insights into the application process to key criteria and stakeholder support. The session also features a presentation from Dr. Mai Thi Nguyen, Board Chair of WDC San Diego Tijuana 2024, who highlights impacts from her region's WDC year.
