ARIA Wisecow Estonia
This video presents Wisecow, a smart livestock-monitoring system that uses wearable sensors and real-time data analysis to support animal health, welfare and efficient farm management. The system enables farmers to continuously monitor animal behaviour and health indicators, helping detect issues early, automate repetitive tasks and improve overall herd management.
Using connected sensors and digital dashboards, Wisecow provides farmers with real-time insights into animal movement, behaviour, temperature and other health indicators. Connectivity enables continuous transmission of data from barns and pastures, supports automated alerts when abnormal activity is detected, and allows synchronisation with veterinary services and farm-management software.
The project demonstrates how reliable rural connectivity, combined with digital skills, can improve efficiency, reduce manual workload and strengthen animal welfare standards across the agricultural sector. Stable broadband and mobile networks are essential to ensure uninterrupted data flow and effective real-time livestock monitoring in rural Europe.
The project was presented in the context of the Agricultural and Rural Inspiration Awards (ARIA), an EU CAP Network initiative recognising innovative and impactful rural development projects across Europe.
