Berlin Climate Mobility Forum Statement H E Frank Walter Steinmeier

At the 2026 Berlin Climate Mobility Forum, H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany, reaffirmed Germany's commitment to the Global Principles for Addressing Climate Mobility. H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier highlighted that climate mobility is the human face of the climate crisis — falling hardest on the most vulnerable, including Small Island Developing States who have contributed least to global emissions. H.E. Frank-Walter Steinmeier called for collective action to protect rights, preserve cultural heritage and enable safe and dignified mobility pathways — ensuring that mobility is a choice, not a necessity. Germany stands in solidarity with frontline communities and is proud to support the Global Centre for Climate Mobility (GCCM) in advancing this landmark global framework.
