One Dose, One Cure: A faster path back to family and work

🐟 Liliane travels every day to the fish farms near her village in the Democratic Republic of Congo. One day, she noticed that her trips were getting harder. She had contracted sleeping sickness after being bitten by tsetse flies that live in these wetlands. 🛖 Thankfully, Liliane was diagnosed in her village and received acoziborole, a single-dose treatment, as part of our clinical trial. ‘Taking the medication was easy, and it cured me,’ she said. She was able to return quickly to her fields, her work, and her family. 💊 Just a few weeks ago, acoziborole received a positive opinion from the European Medicines Agency. This one-day treatment (just three pills) could transform care for people with sleeping sickness, even in its most severe stages. 📽️ Over the next weeks, we will be sharing stories from some of the people behind this milestone, and those whose lives it has changed. We must continue to work together to make sure people like Liliane can access this treatment wherever they are. ---------------------- The Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) is an international non-profit developing safe, effective, and affordable treatments for the most neglected patients. https://dndi.org
