Interview with Dr Pauline Williams, new DNDi Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) Chair
‘Any organization that works in R&D has a duty to have proper governance that includes peer review.’
Watch a conversation with Dr Pauline Williams CBE, FMedSci, the newly appointed chair of our Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC), in which she shares:
🔸 why the SAC’s scientific opinions are key to DNDi’s work
🔸 her views on non-profit medical R&D
🔸 current shifts in the global health innovation ecosystem
🔸 how organizations like DNDi can tackle future challenges
Our SAC provides evidence-driven guidance to our Board of Directors on matters related to R&D and project selection. The SAC is fully independent and brings together scientists in drug discovery and development, alongside public health experts specializing in infectious diseases and neglected populations. All our R&D projects are reviewed by the SAC.
Among other achievements in her remarkable career in drug development, Dr Williams was the Head of Global Health R&D at GSK, launched the GSK Africa Lab, and served as a member of the Medical Research Council of UK Research and Innovation.
We warmly congratulate Dr Williams for joining our SAC and taking on this new and vital role.
