Forty percent of Tanzania's vegetables spoil before they're sold—costing women vendors their income and leaving communities with less food on the table. Freshpack Technologies is changing that. Led by Editha Mshiu and based in Tanzania, Freshpack has developed Africa's first AI-powered cold chain for fresh produce—integrating portable cooling boxes, solar display systems, and cold-carrier trucks, all connected by its FreshView AI platform. The impact: More than 2,073 tonnes of food waste have been prevented, reducing post-harvest loss by 30% and helping over 12,900 vendors operate with greater security and confidence in their products.
