"In our district, psychosocial issues are prominent. The suicide rate is also alarmingly high," says Dr. Dan Saundararaja, Mental Health Focal Point for Batticaloa. With support from UNFPA, dedicated professionals like Dr. Dan are training teachers to recognize psychosocial needs and create safe, nurturing environments for children, adolescents and young people. Following refurbishments at the Kallady Psychosocial Centre, adolescents now have access to counselling, computers, and creative outlets, building resilience and hope for the future.
