UNFPA Policy Dialogue on Climate and Gender

At UNFPA, empowering women and girls is seen as not only a moral imperative but also a strategic necessity for sustainable development. In Sri Lanka, 55.7% of the population struggles with multi-dimensional vulnerability, and close to 50% lack any buffer against further shocks like climate-induced disasters. Because of existing gender inequalities, women are disproportionately affected by climate change. To address the interconnected crises of climate change and gender inequality, the video emphasizes the need for greater investments, engagement, and prioritization of sexual and reproductive health and rights, as well as collective action through partnerships and collaboration.
