ICoCA AGA 2022 - Improving Working Conditions in Private Security - Anne Lauder & Paul Hausmann
Paul Hausmann, Research and Policy intern at ICoCA, and Anne Lauder, Research Consultant at ICoCA, have conducted research on working conditions in the private security industry, illuminating significant trends shaping its landscape. Their findings reveal a sector experiencing both growth and increasing professionalisation, particularly evident in North America and Europe. Despite these advancements, persistent challenges such as low status perceptions and demanding working conditions prevail globally. Issues like long hours, inadequate wages and health risks are exacerbated by the prevalence of contract-based services. The research underscores the urgent need for enhanced regulatory oversight and improved employer practices to uplift standards and ensure better working conditions industry-wide.
