From the Bottom Up: Puerto Rico's Renewable Energy Transition

After Hurricanes Fiona and Maria, thousands of people died in Puerto Rico in part due to power outages that lasted up to a year. The island’s dependence on fossil fuels leaves many people without electricity and affects their quality of life during climate disasters. In this short documentary from 350.org's Hope Hub, Arturo Massol-Deya, the Associate Director at Casa Pueblo in Adjuntas, Puerto Rico, shows how the community center is leading a renewable energy transition throughout the region, building independence and resilience in the face of climate impacts and colonialism.
