Women have long powered Uganda's economy. Yet millions remain locked out of the financial system. 🌱 In the shea value chain alone, 40,000 women gained access to phones, markets, and finance through a UNCDF initiative funded by Sweden. For the first time, they could build financial records and access loans to grow their businesses. 📈 Those lessons now fuel FinWise, UNCDF's US$62 million flagship MSME finance programme across East and Southern Africa. Deploying investment grants, concessional loans, guarantees, and advisory services, FinWise is unlocking capital where it matters most: for women, youth, refugees, and agribusinesses that traditional finance overlooks.
