The World Council takes stock of the milestones of the World Organization for the year, and addresses the upcoming agenda for the year 2027. The World Council appoints the UCLG Vice Presidency and elects the Presidency for the 2026-2029 period, and the renewal of the consultation mechanisms, taking stock of the dialogues held throughout the World Congress. The discussions of the Council also announces the winners of the UCLG Guangzhou Award, as well as the UCLG Peace Prize, and announces the International Award UCLG – Mexico City – Culture 21. Finally, the UCLG World Council adopts the strategy for the upcoming Presidency: namely, the Tangier Outcome Document.
