Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham, two heads of civil society organizations in the United Kingdom have been convicted of criminal offenses for peacefully protesting in the United Kingdom. This is the attempt by this UK government to continue to assault the most fundamental democratic rights that we have as UK citizens. We are calling on this government immediately to withdraw the further measures that they have going through Parliament now that will further restrict protest and to review and rethink the trajectory that they are not only taking, but they are taking this country on. As civil society leaders in this country, we are urging this government to listen immediately, because this is not only about what happens today to Chris and Ben, but this is about the kind of the United Kingdom that they are creating not only now, but for generations to come.
