What Does It Take for Skills Development to Thrive?
Swisscontact’s Swiss Skills for Competitiveness (SS4C) program is helping to bridge the gap between what vocational students learn and what industries need. As the demands of the job market continue to change, it is imperative for businesses to engage in shaping skills development. Through the Industry-Based Curriculum (IBC) approach, our industry partners play a key role from the start in designing what is taught, working alongside skilled facilitators to ensure training remains high-quality and relevant. This collaboration ensures graduates leave school ready to succeed in a fast-evolving world of work.
This video highlights best practices and tangible results from IBC implementation across institutions and ministries in Indonesia, including the Ministry of Industry, which establishes the IBC Facilitator Pool under BPSDMI, and the Ministry of Tourism through its Curriculum Task Force. Together, these efforts demonstrate meaningful progress in institutionalising and scaling up the IBC approach across sectors -spanning industries, polytechnics, and vocational schools- to build a more responsive and competitive workforce.
ABOUT SS4C
Swiss Skills for Competitiveness Initiative (SS4C) is a merger of the Skills for Competitiveness (S4C) and Sustainable Tourism Education Development (STED) projects. SS4C aims to strengthen the incentives and capacities of public and private dual vocational education and training (dVET) providers, with an emphasis on aligning graduates’ skills with industry needs and supporting improved productivity and competitiveness of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia.
