BRICK Project Documentary | Ngakarimong Version
The Building Resilience in Conflict-Affected Communities in Karamoja (BRICK) Project, implemented by UNDP Uganda in partnership with the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs and the district local governments of Moroto, Kotido, and Kaabong, with support from KOICA Uganda and funding from the Republic of Korea, is helping transform communities across the Karamoja subregion through peacebuilding, livelihoods, and resilience initiatives.
This documentary showcases the impact of the project across Moroto, Kotido, and Kaabong, highlighting communities gaining access to clean and reliable water, improved local infrastructure, vocational and livelihood opportunities for youth, strengthened peacebuilding efforts, and increased economic empowerment for vulnerable households.
Through the project:
• 19,000+ people across 25 villages now have access to water through newly established water systems and production wells
• 23,000+ people participated in peacebuilding and social cohesion engagements
• Former Karachunas (reformed warriors) and youth received vocational skills training, start-up support, and livelihood opportunities
• 30+ illegal firearms were voluntarily surrendered, strengthening trust and community security
• Thousands of households benefited from financial literacy training, savings groups, and economic support initiatives
The documentary also highlights the role of women, youth groups, local leaders, civil society organizations, and reformed warriors in driving locally led solutions and building a more peaceful and resilient Karamoja.
