Human Rights Day Forum 2025: Protecting Our Future Generations: Human Rights for All

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Legal Affairs Division in the Prime Minister’s Department, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM), and the United Nations in Malaysia are pleased to invite you to the Human Rights Day Forum 2025, held under the theme “Protecting Our Future Generations: Human Rights for All.” This year’s Forum marks 30 years since Malaysia acceded to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) on 17 February 1995. It is a timely moment to reflect on the progress made, the challenges that remain, and the collective responsibility to ensure the protection, development, participation, and non-discrimination of every child in Malaysia. Human Rights Day Forum 2025 will provide a platform to examine how national laws, policies, and institutions safeguard children across all settings—homes, schools, digital platforms, and State facilities. The Forum will also address systemic gaps and emerging risks, including violence, discrimination, bullying, exploitation, and online harm. Discussions will consider how state agencies, oversight bodies, and private sector actors uphold their responsibilities, and how access to remedies and justice for children can be strengthened. The event will bring together representatives from government ministries, the diplomatic community, civil society organizations, the private sector, academia, think-tanks, youth groups, and community leaders.
