In Guadalajara, creating a sustainable city means reclaiming the streets for people and ensuring every public building leads by example for a net-zero future 🏛️🌱 Through the C40 UCAP Climate Action Implementation (CAI) programme, funded by the UK Government, in partnership with Guadalajara, the city launched Mexico’s first Low Emission Zone — the AIRE Zone — projected to save 2,586 CO2 annually. Simultaneously, the city established a Zero Carbon Buildings Roadmap for its municipal stock and successfully embedded climate criteria across all government departments to ensure these targets are included in long-term urban planning. Key highlights: ✅ Launch of the AIRE Zone to reduce local air pollution and traffic. ✅ Roadmap for 100% net-zero public buildings by 2050. ✅ Institutionalising climate action across all municipal governance levels.
